Ruth W (Watkinson) Speer

Ruth W Speer, 93, of Masonic Village, Sewickley, formerly of Upper St. Clair, on Saturday August 18, 2018.   Preceded in death by beloved husband Lawrence H Speer Jr., parents Thomas and Florence (Stockton) Watkinson, and brothers William and George Watkinson. Ruth was also preceded in death by husband Jack (JD) Whaley and step-son Bruce Whaley.  She is survived by children Laurel (William) Grant of Oakland, MD, John (Susan) Van Arsdale of Harmony, PA, Karen (Mark) Lindsley of Lawrenceville, GA, and step-daughter Linda Gogniat of Cranberry Township, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ruth was a retired elementary school teacher in the Chartiers Valley School District. A private memorial and interment at Chartiers Cemetery, Carnegie, is planned.  Arrangements by Henney, Bradwell & Nirella Funeral Home, Carnegie.
