MARSHALL
ROBERT JOHN "Bob"
Age 62, of Crafton, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Devoted husband to Dané (Frey); dedicated father to Claire Muszalski (Adam) and JohnRobert; charming Pap to Ava Muszalski; loving brother to Dick Marshall (Chris Hayes). Preceded in death by parents, Nelson and Irene Marshall. Bob’s career path took many directions and he was a fearless entrepreneur since childhood, when he began a grass-cutting business with his lifelong friend, David Kollar. His professional career began in hospitality as a bellman at the Greentree Marriott, was promoted to bell captain, sales manager and then moved on to the William Penn Hotel. He opened Bob’s Pizza Plus in Castle Shannon and then became sales manager at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport. He continued new directions in sales with Hallmark Cards, then subsequently opened Claire’s Card and Gift downtown, Imperial Card Company, four flower shops, John Marshall Records, and Claire’s Card and Gift in Crafton Ingram Shopping Center. He moved from Hallmark to Enesco, and then to Kurt S. Adler Giftware, and opened a showroom at the Monroeville Expomart. His dream was to open a diner, and opened Bobs on Noblestown Road while still working full-time. He worked for Quaker Steak and Lube, then later opened the Bellevue Diner, and began the Bob’s Diner franchise with locations in Kennedy Township, Imperial, Carnegie, Painters Run Road, and Grove Road, followed by Bob’s Donut Shop in Kenmawr Plaza. Personally, Bob was a passionate season ticket holder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, stockcar fan (contributed to RPM Magazine), sang in the choir at Assumption Parish, taught Sunday School and was elected President of St. Philip Church Council (where he oversaw the restoration of the church for the centennial celebration), was on the faculty as a culinary instructor at CCAC, and hosted the “Bob’s Diner Radio Show” on KQV and “Food Fare with Bob and Claire” on KDKA radio. He took pride in his irrational car collection, found great joy in becoming a member of the Lake Tomahawk Property Owners Association, was a member of the House Committee at Chartiers Country Club and a self-proclaimed bacon connoisseur. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at HENNEY, BRADWELL & NIRELLA FUNERAL HOME, 524 Washington Ave., Carnegie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 10 a.m. in St. Philip R.C. Church, 50 W. Crafton Ave., Crafton, PA 15205. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH
