John Heiner, age 102 of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday December 21, 2024. Beloved partner of 33 years to Lynn Pascoe; father of Suzanne Lacy. Brother of the late Winefrede Heinemann and Joseph Moore. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Carolyn Lacy Coraccio (her husband Neil), Stephen Lacy (his wife Andrea Klein Lacy), and five great-grandchildren; Drew and Grace Coraccio, Isaac, Maya and Zoe Klein Lacy.
John attended USC before serving proudly in the US Air Force during both World War II and the Korean War. After his time in the service, he married Thelma Clark, and together they moved to Hawaii in 1951. There, he worked for Hawaiian Airlines, and later as President at Tanya Hawaiian Suntan Lotion company. He spent time in Los Angeles before moving to the east coast to start his second career in the glassware industry, making his home in New Jersey and then West Virginia, before settling in western Pennsylvania, where he remained until his death.
John was an avid connoisseur of fine arts & classical music, a lover of architecture, and had a deep appreciation for the study of Greek and Roman culture and history, and became a consummate backyard gardener. He was an accomplished athlete in his younger years, participating in track & field at USC, as well as golf and recreational sports thereafter. During his time in the travel industry, he made extensive visits to Japan and Europe, where he developed a lifelong interest in French culture. He cultivated a deep appreciation for wine, through the study of its history, geography, and methods of production. Enjoying wine became an integral part of his life, and John always tied particular wines to fond memories of wonderful gatherings with friends and family.
Family and friends will be received from 1:00-3:00pm on Thursday, January 2nd at THE CLUBHOUSE AT CHERRY HILL, CHERRY HILL DR., PRESTO (NEVILLEWOOD), PA. Interment with full military honors will follow on Friday January 3rd, 10:30am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA.
