Obituary

Helen Louise (Haudenshield) Burne, 95, residing with daughter and son-in-law in Hanover Township went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday February 6th 2023.  She was born August 16, 1927 in Carnegie PA, a daughter of George and Laura (Scott) Haudenshield.  A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Carnegie (more recently Carnegie Presbyterian Church), Helen was a devout woman of faith. Her kind and gentle spirit never waned. She will be remembered as a wonderful artist and pianist, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (Gigi). She had an appetite for life and her positivity touched many lives. Helen is survived by her loving children, Kevin Burne and Cynthia (husband Kurt) Winter and daughter-in-law Louise Burne; six grandchildren, Shannon (husband Matt) Turske, Heather Burne, Scott (wife Lindsay) Winter, Sarah Winter (husband Nick Bruno), Mara (husband Andrew) DeRosa and Ashley Burne; six great-grandchildren, Brandon Turske, Catalina (husband David) Laird, Liza Winter, Thea Burne-Weisberg, Laura and Luke Bruno; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by sister Ginger Schimmel, son David Burne, daughter-in-law Gwenn Burne, and husband John Burne, who she loved dearly for their 66 years of marriage.  Friends and family will be received from 3-8pm Friday February 10, 2023 at Henney, Bradwell & Nirella Funeral Home, 524 Washington Ave., Carnegie, where funeral service will be held at 7:00pm.

 

JOHN CLARENCE BURNE    SEPTEMBER 28, 1926 ---- MAY 3, 2016  (Age 89)

John Clarence Burne, 89, passed peacefully to the Lord in his home in South Carolina on May 3rd 2016.  He was born September 28th 1926 in Westford, MA, a son of Clarence and Bess (Jackson) Burne.  He was the eldest of seven children.  He was a WWII veteran.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carnegie.  John will be remembered by his loving children, David (wife Louise) Burne, Kevin (wife Gwenn) Burne and Cindy (husband Kurt) Winter; six grandchildren, Shannon (husband Matt) Turske, Heather Burne, Scott (wife Lindsay) Winter, Sarah Winter (husband Nick Bruno), Mara (husband Andrew) DeRosa and Ashley Burne; six great-grandchildren, Brandon Turske, Catalina (husband David) Laird, Liza Winter, Thea Burne-Weisberg, Laura and Luke Bruno; and many nieces and nephews.  He will be buried in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with his loving wife Helen (Haudenshield) Burne, who passed on February 6th 2023.  John met artist Helen in Roanoke VA, working as a photographer.  They were happily married for 66 years.
