Dennis J. Wrona

Age 83, recently of Carnegie, on Friday August 23, 2024.  Beloved husband of Joan M. Wrona (deceased); loving father of David Wrona (Jennifer), Jeffrey Wrona (Janis), and Daniel Wrona (Jennifer). Survived by his six grandchildren; Jonathan, Paul, Thomas, Haley, Courtney and Griffin; and his brother Kenneth Wrona (Valla).  Also survived by sister-in-law Patricia Skreski (late Stan), and many nieces and nephews.

After graduation from Canonsburg High School in 1959, Dennis completed college and was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served until 1966. He began his career, teaching earth and space science at Chartiers Valley where he taught until he retired in 1998. In 1965, he married his loving wife Joan and over the next few years became the father of his three beloved sons. He was blessed with six grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was able to combine his love of travel with visits to them as they have moved around the country and the globe. Dennis was also a great friend to neighbors, co-workers, golf buddies, travel friends, and touched the lives of many.  He was also incredibly faithful to his church and God.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 29th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Henney, Bradwell & Nirella Funeral Home, 524 Washington Ave., Carnegie.  Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am on Friday, August 30th, St Raphael the Archangel Parish, St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 330 Third Ave., Carnegie.  Interment, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 3rd at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Dennis’ honor be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
