Donald E. Yost

Age 85, of Scott Township, passed peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2021.

Don was born in Carnegie PA on October 3, 1935 to William A. and Margaret C (Nelson)Yost. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bob and Bill and sister Dollie Kruger. Don was married to the love of his life, Janet E. (McIlroy) for 67 years. He is survived by his four children, sons Donn (Kathie), Dale ( Laurie), Tom (Lou) and daughter Pam (Eric) Lawlor. He is grandfather to Pat (Kristie) and Shannon, Jaime (Adam), Lauren (Andy) and Callie, Jake, Tyler and Travis, Russell (Michele), Brian (Pam) and Michael (Kristine), and Jocelyn. He is the great-grandfather of Vince and Zaine, Aubrey and Keegan, Kiera, Dayton and Avery, Eli and Zac, Violet, Cody and Kenzie, Lucas, Nathan and Chloe. He is also survived by many friends, near and far.

Once a Marine always a Marine, Don served from 1954-1956. That experience shaped his life. He held several jobs throughout his lifetime, and retired as a stationary engineer of Operating Engineers Local 95. He also served on the Chartiers Valley School Board for many years. He not only played men’s softball in his younger days but was a long time coach of the men’s Foxcroft Softball team. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time at camp with his family.

Leading by example, Don taught his children love, respect, loyalty and kindness, and instilled in them a strong work ethic.

Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but most of all by his wife, Janet - together since they were 13 years old.  Funeral services will be private.  Memorial contributions if desired, should be made to The West Penn Burn Center, 4800 Friendship Ave., Pittsburgh, PA  15224
